Wilson however, continued to live at the ranch until his death in 1943 and his family moved from the ranch the next year. In its time, Homer Wilson’s ranch was one of the largest ranches in the United States, comprising more than 28,000 acres of land. The trail leading to the old line camp is an easy downhill stroll that crosses two drainages and then climbs to the house on the bank of Blue Creek. For many years, this ranch house was home to Wilson’s foreman, Lott Felts. We believe good things come from people spending time outside.

In 1928, Homer Wilson bought land in the foothills of the Chisos for a sheep and goat operation. Eventually, his ranch spanned 45,000 acres. The location is perfect - stunning views of the park, beautiful sunsets, and the covered porch makes it comfortable throughout the day. No issues with water or power with the off grid utilities, worked out great! Great Location and views of the mountains and even stargazing. Easy checkin and air conditioning worked great. The listing was inaccurate in that it listed fire extinguisher and first aid kit, neither were there at least that i can find. Pets are not allowed on trails, off roads, or on the river.

Wander the riverfront or discover the area's desert landscape. As we hiked along the trail, we passed a couple of large bear boxes and thought that it was a weird spot to put them. It’s a three day hike and they can’t carry enough water for the whole hike.
